Amazing Sculpture Features Race Cars Soaring in the Sky

In festival of the Goodword Festival of Speed 2014, craftsman Gerry Judah made a model for the extravagance auto organization Mercedes-Benz. The 85-foot-high angled establishment takes off over Goodword House, and the noteworthy 160-ton-steel work of art measures 295 feet long. It emphasizes two autos, the 1934 Mercedes-Benz W25 "Silver Arrow" and the 2013 Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W04, whose ways cross confronting inverse headings. Judah joins the past with the present in this eye-finding tribute to dashing.

The overwhelming model has a fantastical feel to it, and for a minute you may imagine that you're seeing two autos barely getting away from escaping a collision. It's a surreal experience to see this track rise up out of the ground and race towards the open sky.

It was 80 years back when the Silver Arrow won its first race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with Manfred von Brauchitsch in the driver's seat. From that point forward, the organization's rival autos have dependably been silver. We see this in the contemporary AMG Petronas Formula 1 auto that is matched with the Silver Arrow; while it exploits the changes in technology, regardless it offers the conventional color .

Witley Park’s Underwater Ballroom

Between Godalming and Haslemere, in Surrey, near the English village of Witley, once stood one of the most lavish private residences in the world —the Witley Park. Originally called Lea Park, it belonged to a man named Whitaker Wright who made his fortune by defrauding shareholders of hundreds of million pounds —not once, but twice in two different continents. At the peak of his financial crimes, Wright bought the vast 1,400-acre Victorian estate from the 15th Earl of Derby and built an extravagant 32-bedroom mansion, among other things like a racecourse, a theater and a private hospital.

11 Foot 8 Inches: The Infamous ‘Can Opener’ Bridge

At 11 foot 8 inches, the Norfolk Southern–Gregson Street Overpass, located in Durham, North Carolina, United States, is a bit too short. The federal government recommends that bridges on public roads should have a clearance of at least 14 feet. But when this railroad trestle was built in the 1940s, there were no standards for minimum clearance. As a result, trucks would frequently hit the bridge and get its roof scrapped off.
