Incredible Life-Sized Drawings of Creatures that Look 3D

Vancouver-based art student Fiona Tang makes outstanding, life-sized drawings of animals that appear to pop right off of the paper. A tough-looking whale comes out from the walls to fight a threatening shark; a elegant deer looks directly at the viewer; an enormous crocodile pokes its snout out from the walls. 

Although the works of art look extremely three-dimensional, each piece is actually a completely flat and 2D drawing, designed using a wide range of media like charcoal, acrylic colour, conte, and chalk pastel.

Tang draws off her effective dreams using a strategy known as trompe l'oeil, which uses genuine visuals to create 2D things appear 3D. This strategy, along with Tang's significant gestural method of illustrating, create for amazing, eye-popping works of art that seem to have a lifestyle of their own.
