The Scala dei Turchi (Italian for “Stairs of the Turks”) is a remarkably white-colored limestone high cliff, shaped like a stairway, on the shore of Realmonte, near Porto Empedocle, southern Sicily, Italy.
The Scala is established by marl, a sedimentary stone with a attribute white color. The bluff can be found between two sandy beaches, and can be quickly achieved through a limestone stone where the breeze and rainfall through the hundreds of years have used away at its extensive steps.
The name comes from the many invasions by Turkish pirates who attached their vessels next to the cliffs while they pillaged the region. These days, it’s a well-known vacationer fascination due to its uncommon white color. Scala dei Turchi’s reputation was also assisted, thanks to a sequence of investigator experiences published by Andrea Camilleri where this position was mentioned.
