Located in the hills of West Virginia, photographer Nick Olson and designer Lilah Horwitz have built their own wonderful getaway designed out of discarded windows. The massive house away from house features a innovative act designed of windows of different sizes, providing it an creative style that is both traditional and modern. More than anything, though, it is a reflection of the couple's diligent and penny-pinching efforts.
Salvaging most of their components from a close by discontinued barn, the innovative duo was able to create the amazing cup cabin with approximately $500 and several months' worth of hard work. Olson says,
"We were able to make it a truth because we are first performers and makers. We had to be practical to do it at low costs."
This intended living off of legumes and grain while devoting their a chance to building their one-of-a-kind house.
Olson and Horwitz of course don't spend their time at the cabin year-round, as they mainly live in Milwaukee, though they do enjoy an evade every now and then, amidst nature. Though the cabin the two have built doesn't include electricity or plumbing, it provides a relaxing "oneness" with the encompassing atmosphere, increasing certain factors of natural beauty. Horwitz gushes about the wonderful light show designed through their windows/wall just as the sun is setting."That’s when everything inside is on flame,"
she says.
