Melbourne's Smooth Transport Center by Zaha Hadid

World-renowned designer Zaha Hadid is working on a combined offer with Brisbane-based firm Donovan Hill for Melbourne's Flinders St. Place competitors. The design for the offer is a modern elongated form that also will pay honor to the structure's ancient past. Hadid's primary goal with this venture is to create not only a place but a multi-purpose train station that will serve as a milestone for Melbourne's sky line.

What is unique about this idea is the structure's foldable ceiling that allows for included air flow and illumination. Swooping arches and curved supports make up the internal area, creating a nice juxtaposition between the external straight line act and curvilinear internal. A new number of liquid people routes have also been included to help flow crowded visitors and improve the design's sense of movement. Additionally, many of the website's discontinued and explanation areas will be re-purposed, such as an old ballroom that is set to become a brand new event space. The station's suggested modification will also include retail store areas, a resort, and even a fine dining restaurant.

In 1992, a strangely curious man named Wu Anai, near the Chinese village of Shiyan Beicun in Longyou County, based on a hunch, began to pump water out of a pond in his village. Anai believed the pond was not natural, nor was it infinitely deep as the local lore went, and he decided to prove it. He convinced some of his villagers and together they bought a water pump and began to siphon water out of the pond. After 17 days of pumping, the water level fell enough to reveal the flooded entrance to an ancient, man-made cave, confirming Anai’s suspicion.
