Translation is a site-specific thread installation by Missouri-based specialist Kendra Werst that performs on a three-dimensional aircraft to redefine space. Using colorful strands of thread fitted to the nearby surfaces in the area of a room, the multihued post incorporate in and out of a plexiglass board to make a sculptural framework ornamented with subjective accessories. The framework is a geometrical food for the sight that appears at 9 ft. high.
The artists human body of work is motivated by symbiosis ("the unusual connection between two people that includes a shared relationship"). She explains:
"It is the visualization of this special relationship and the communication that takes place within interpersonal relationships that drives my creative process… Often I join planes by puncturing holes in the material and threading them together. This creates tension between parts that exemplifies the symbiosis."
