Beautiful China Landscapes Coloured on the Individual Body

Beijing-based specialist Huang Yan professionally looks like conventional artwork from the Song Dynasty of China landscapes on one's human body. While the style and art of artwork is a conventional practice, the choice to use a persons type as a fabric contributes new meaning to the works. The modern artists sequence, appropriately named China Scenery, provides a visible relationship between man and nature through his expert application.

Each of Huang's human body works of art strengthen Taoist ideas that suggest a sense of balance between man and his environment. In the same line of thinking, one's human body and painted landscapes in the sequence move together as a single enterprise. One starts to question what the art truly is, though. Is it the artwork themselves,  the body they're exhibited on, or do they work together as a way of performance art?

The Mystery of The Longyou Caves

In 1992, a strangely curious man named Wu Anai, near the Chinese village of Shiyan Beicun in Longyou County, based on a hunch, began to pump water out of a pond in his village. Anai believed the pond was not natural, nor was it infinitely deep as the local lore went, and he decided to prove it. He convinced some of his villagers and together they bought a water pump and began to siphon water out of the pond. After 17 days of pumping, the water level fell enough to reveal the flooded entrance to an ancient, man-made cave, confirming Anai’s suspicion.
