New 32-bit MCUs designed to convert customer and business programs currently using history 8- and 16-bit architectures
Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL) is now offering leader examples of its Kinetis L series, the sector's first microcontrollers (MCUs) designed on the ARM® Cortex™-M0+ brand. As machine-to-machine interaction grows and network connection becomes popular, many of today's separate, entry-level programs will require more intellect and performance. With the Kinetis L series, Freescale provides the perfect opportunity for users of history 8- and 16-bit architectures to move to 32-bit systems and carry extra intellect to everyday equipment without increasing power intake and price or compromising space. Applications, such as little equipment, gaming accessories, portable medical techniques, audio techniques, smart measures, lighting and power management, can now power 32-bit abilities and the scalability needed to grow future products – all at 8- and 16-bit price and power intake levels.

Extreme power efficiency
The ARM Cortex-M0+ brand uses approximately one-third of the power of any 8- or 16-bit brand available today, while providing between two to 40 times more efficiency. The Kinetis L series supplements the energy-efficiency of the primary with the latest in low-power MCU foundation design, managing ways and energy-saving add-ons. The result is an MCU that uses just 50 uA/MHz* in very-low-power run (VLPR) function and can rapidly awaken from a decreased power state, process information and return to rest, increasing program battery power. These advantages are confirmed in the FTF trial, which blogs about the energy-efficiency features of the Kinetis L series against alternatives from Freescale competition in a CoreMark standard research. The Kinetis L series is also part of the Freescale Energy-Efficient Solutions program.
Kinetis L series energy-saving add-ons do more with less power by maintaining performance even when the MCU is in deep rest ways. In traditional MCUs, the primary time and brand primary must be triggered to execute even simple projects such as submitting or receiving information, taking or generating waveforms or choosing analogue alerts. Kinetis L series add-ons are able to execute these functions without relating to the primary or primary program, greatly decreasing power intake and enhancing battery power.

Kinetis L1 household – with 32 to 256 KB of display storage space and extra marketing and sales communications and analogue side-line alternatives. Suitable with the Kinetis K10 household.
Kinetis L2 household – contributes USB 2.0 full-speed host/device/OTG. Suitable with the Kinetis K20 household.
The Kinetis L series is pin- and software-compatible with the Kinetis K series (built on the ARM Cortex-M4 processor), offering a migration path to DSP efficiency and advanced feature incorporation.
